DAYS OF RIDVÁN:
A compilation
The twelve days of Ridván (April 21-May 2) mark the holiest days of the Bahá'í year and
have been termed the "Most Great Festival" and the "King of Festivals" by Bahá'u'lláh
himself. Yet many Bahá'í communities are at a loss for how to observe this occasion. Here
is help.
This short book draws together a selection of passages from the Bahá'í
Sacred
Writings which can be used at Holy Day celebrations and other occasions during the Ridván
period. The first section presents Tablets specifically revealed by Bahá'u'lláh for Ridván.
These include the majestic discourse in which the Manifestation symbolically addresses His
pen as the instrument of the Revelation of His words, and proclaims His high station: "The
Divine Springtime is come, O Most Exalted Pen . . ." Next are provided passages from the
talks and Tablets of 'Abdu'l-Bahá that deal with Ridván and Shoghi Effendi's account of
Bahá'u'lláh's Declaration. Finally, the last section of the book gives three eyewitness
accounts to the events in the Garden of Ridván from Bahá'ís
who were present at the time.
We hope that this compilation will provide a fuller understanding of the Most Great
Festival to Bahá'í communities around the world and will become a ready reference to
assist with the development of programs for fitting celebrations of these precious days.
